Blogger Recognition Award

The Blogger Recognition Award is an online award given by bloggers to other bloggers as a way of recognizing the efforts they put into their site. I was nominated by Allan who has a fantastic and fun-filled blog about his adventures and life in Canada. He shares some fascinating photos and includes loads of humor and personality in his posts. Be sure to check it out!

Rules for the Blogger Recognition Award:

  • Thank the blogger who nominated you and add a link to their blog
  • Write a blog post on your site displaying the award
  • Describe why you started your blog
  • Write two pieces of advice for the new bloggers
  • Nominate and notify 11-15 other bloggers

Why I Started This Blog:

I was at a really low point with my mental health and I was struggling with life, motherhood, work, and everything that so many of us have on our plates. I felt like I could barely keep my head above the water. It was recommended to me that I start journalling my thoughts and feelings to make sense of them. I tried and it just didn’t work, I must’ve been doing it wrong… So I thought maybe it could help me re-discover the voice within myself. To hear my thoughts again. I named it Mama Coffee Chat because I wanted it to just be a bunch of stuff that I, as a mom, would talk about to a friend over coffee. But after awhile I realized that it was really about me figuring out who I am. Learning to accept myself and love myself despite my flaws and maybe even learn to embrace those flaws.

Two Pieces Of Advice For New Bloggers:

  1. I suggest finding a few blogs that you can relate to, ones you find interesting, and maybe a couple that inspire you to try new things. Follow them, binge read them if you want, just get yourself introduced to how things work first. This will also inspire writing topics for you to try and test the waters with. It will give you practice with the writing process and get you comfortable with your writing style.
  2. Don’t be too hard on yourself. If you’re disappointed with numbers then you need to re-evaluate why you’re doing this. If you’re not enjoying your experience here then you need to look at you WHY and determine what’s next. Be yourself! There are so many supportive fellow bloggers here that accept you and you matter 🙂 Don’t be afraid to ask questions, we all need to start somewhere and that’s how we learn. Relax and enjoy the atmosphere!

Sunshine Blogger Award

I’d like to thank Caz for nominating me for this award 🙂 She is passionate about raising mental health awareness and I encourage you to check her out at https://mentalhealthfromtheotherside.com/

What is the Sunshine Blogger Award?

This award is given by bloggers to fellow bloggers who are creative, positive and inspiring while spreading sunshine to the blogging community. So if you don’t know me or if you want to know me a little better, grab a coffee, put your feet up and relax with me while you read through!

Sunshine Blogger Award Rules

  1. Thank the person who nominated you and provide a link back to their blogging site.
  2. List the Sunshine Blogger Award rules and display the logo on your site.
  3. Answer the Sunshine Blogger Award questions.
  4. Nominate 11 other bloggers and ask them 11 new questions.
  5. Notify the nominees about their nominations.

Caz’s Sunshine Blogger Award Questions:

  1. What influenced the name of your blog? I’m a mom, I love coffee and I like to chat with others about all sorts of things.
  2. How long have you been blogging and how are you finding it? February marks my 1 year blogging. I love it. I find it therapeutic and I love meeting new bloggers! I sometimes feel a little overwhelmed when trying to find time to blog since I have a pretty busy household but in the end, it’s something I chose to do for ME and I am really enjoying it.
  3. Who would your blog appeal to or who would you like your blog to appeal to? I try to just be real about what’s going on in life and share the things I like. I have a lot of different subjects that I blog about because I’m interested in many things. My blog would appeal mostly to those who also enjoy reading a bunch of random things from day to day to beat the boredom 🙂
  4. Tell us about your most current job and one thing you liked/disliked about it? I have an “out-of-the-house-paycheck” job working as a Customer Service Manager at a Walmart in the closest city (an hour from me). Aside from working there on the weekends, I am a full time mom in our little village, I babysit part time and I bake out of my home. I recently received my level one certificate in Usui Ryoho Reiki which I am hoping to continue training to become a Reiki Master.
  5. What’s the last book you read about? A young girl who knows the identity of a murderer but can not speak to tell anyone what she knows. A new technology has come out that means she may be able to communicate and reveal all she knows…if he doesn’t get to her first.
  6. Tell us two truths and one lie (just for fun) about you? 1) I love going out to the movies. 2) I’ve been married for 19.5 years. 3) I dream of becoming a foster parent
  7. Who was your last conversation with and what was it about? I called my best friend just so I could have an answer here. We talked about our visit coming up in March when the kids have dance competitions in Red Deer.
  8. Who would you like to have dinner with, dead or alive, and why? I have so many possibilities here. Today my answer is: Many years ago there was lady who lived in the same village I do today, this was years before we moved here but my Grandma knew her and I met her through my Grandma. Her name was Bernice Carnahan. She disappeared August 10, 2012 and has never been found. I would have dinner with her. It has bothered me since that day, an uneasy feeling in the gut and I would love for her family to have closure.
  9. When was your last belly-laugh and what was so funny? Today, actually. I tried something new called Piyo and as I’m falling all over the place with zero balance, one of the other girls say to me “You’re doing great, in a couple more classes you’ll be able to do this without falling over” as the one who’s been doing it for a year lost her balance and fell. A group of 40-50 year old moms
  10. Where, when and who was your last picnic. Last summer at a park with my kids.
  11. What would you do if you found a £50 ($ or €) note? If it’s in a store, restaurant, etc, I would turn it in and hope the owner finds it.

My Nominees for the Sunshine Blogger Award Are:

Stop Making Excuses And Just Go For It!

“Success consists of getting up just one more time than you fall.”

–Oliver Goldsmith

Be stronger than your strongest excuse

unknown

I have two sayings that have been on my mind lately. Starting at the beginning of January I started heading to the gym twice a week. I do 40-45 minutes cardio with 15-20 minute strength or core training afterwards. This was extremely hard for me to commit to because of my anxiety of people and being in new places and around people I don’t know and trying new things and sweating LOL

I messaged the number and received a kind and caring response from a woman named Ivy. I was so nervous to go but I showed up and I had so much fun with her and the others. I went back again and again and I’m still going. It’s only been a month but this is something that I want to continue and even though it’s something I love I still find that I’m making excuses and trying to convince myself that I’m too busy to go or that I have other things that need my attention.

She makes everyone feel so welcome and is so encouraging! If I’m going to achieve the success I’m looking for, this is the place! So why am I still trying to sabotage myself? Maybe I’m still fighting that old belief that I’m not good enough?

The last thing I keep saying to myself is probably the one mantra that has made the most difference and has got me out that door.

Stop making excuses and just go for it!

Myself

Is there anything that you really enjoy doing but have a hard time convincing yourself to do it?

I also just want to add a big thank you here to Allan at https://blographytoo.photo.blog/ for nominating me for the Blogger Recognition Award. I’m so honored to have the opportunity to participate! I also want to say a huge thank you to Caz at https://mentalhealthfromtheotherside.com/ for nominating me for the Sunshine Blogger Award. I would love for you to head over and visit both of them and say hello!
