I really appreciate this post and though I’m not sure how many of my friends here can relate on a personal level, I’m sure there are many who know someone suffering on some level. Be sure to check out Marty’s blog!
I can relate very strongly to 7,8,9,10,15,16 and 17. The second symptom listed is nightmares and I suffered for many years with them along with insomnia. That got better until I relived some of my past through my therapy and many of my symptoms got much worse and my nightmares came back as well. I was even to the point where I was finding places to hide at work because I felt so unsafe. Danger was everywhere.
For all of you out there living with PTSD or CPTSD, you are not alone. Having someone to talk to helps, whether it’s a trauma therapist or counselor or a friend who can relate… If you find that your therapy isn’t helping, don’t be afraid to find another therapist!
