Saskatchewan’s Missing

I just wanted to do a quick little post about a few of the people that have gone missing in our province. I started to look into this and found it alarming and depressing! First of all, I don’t actually recall hearing about most of the people that I found listed and I feel like this should be important enough to get out, I mean I keep hearing the weird guy that lives in the big white mansion down south and it may be just my opinion but I believe the missing women and children, grand parents with grand children, and numerous boys and men are much more valuable. I also may just be ranting because after looking at all the pictures of missing people across Canada I feel like we need to do more!

I am an hour north of North Battleford, Saskatchewan, recently named “Crime Town” because of the spike in crime. North Battleford also happens to be right on the path from Saskatoon to Edmonton, two of the main cities believed to be a part of the sex-trafficking ring in the province. This is scary. This is heart breaking. This is a pretty serious matter that is extremely hard to get accurate and trust-worthy information on. Something else that I had a lot of trouble getting information for was the two indigenous woman that went missing recently from the city. Tiki Brook-Lyn Lavendiere, age 25 from Edmonton Alberta and Ashley Morin, age 31. Both of these women went missing from North Battleford and families and supporters did a 3 day walk in their names just a couple days ago. They walked more than 130 km from Saskatoon to North Battleford and more than 2 dozen people participated. I could find more information on Ashley than Tiki.

The RCMP are now investigating both these cases as homicides but I can’t seem to find out any other information. They had the Forensic Identification Services from Edmonton in to help.

I just have to add here (in no disrespect to the North Battleford RCMP) that the police had been denying for a number of years that there were gangs in the city. Anytime the question came up about gang related activity, they always looked the other way and only said that there was no evidence to point to there being gangs. The gangs were around even when I was going to school (like the year after the dinosaurs disappeared-they also went missing from North Battleford 😉 )

Others that have gone missing are Chelsa Deloris Pritchard, age 23 – missing since May of 2019. Malaki Osecap, age 13 – missing since November 2018. Cheyenne Bouvier, age 21 – missing since November 2018. So many more have gone missing, never to be heard from afterwards. I looked at information from Crime Stoppers and missingpeople.ca . https://saskcrimestoppers.com/

All these people are in my prayers. All these families are hurting and deserve to know where their loved ones are. I pray for them as well. I also pray that it becomes easier to find information on others that go missing, and for a way for the public to join in and help more and the information needed for us to do that.

Until next time, stay safe and have a blessed day,

Ang

Every person has value and until we all get that and realize that no person has the right to exert power over any other person as if they were a chattel or a tool for their own purpose, this nightmare will continue. We can study it to death, but, now it is time to do something about it. Education, family and community support to help people not become victims. Laws, convictions and sentences for the perps, so they are disincentivized. It all starts with caring. Thanks for caring, Angie. Allan
