Some Fun Through June

We’ve had a good share of severe weather here in Saskatchewan already this season. This is good news for my family because we LOVE storms 🙂 We love to get out on the back roads and watch how the storm develops and changes. Many times I’m stuck indoors at work and can’t get out to really appreciate the weather. On those days, I rely on my husband to send me photos. His office is his truck and he’s out on the back roads all day.

A few of the braided bracelets K makes

We’ve been trying to get out to the lake more this year too. I just can’t believe how fast the kids are growing up! Soon they will be busy with their own things and won’t be out there as much. I’m trying to enjoy as much of this time as I can. B has already turned 13 and has been working casually with a company who bought a building in town and is turning it into a tech college. He’s also getting into woodworking and is hoping to make wood crafts to sell.

K is now 11 and she keeps herself busy with friends, aerial silks, beading and making bracelets. A large chunk of the money she earns from her bracelets goes towards different non-profits. Last year, she donated $60 to the local food bank from the sales of her bracelets.

R is about to turn 8. He’s full of energy and spunk and is quite possibly going to be reason my hair finally goes grey! He loves fast cars, action movies, teasing the girls, and ghost stories. He also enjoys fishing, reading and cuddles while watching tv 🙂

They’ve been out with their kayaks, and have already spent countless hours at the beach. I feel very blessed to have this time with them. I have also been able to spend time doing our weekly meal planning while soaking up the sun 🙂

All this summertime fun has meant that I needed to sacrifice my garden this year. It just didn’t happen with everything going on and my extra hours at work. I DID buy myself a hanging basket for the side of my house for my birthday though!

Anyway, we just got hit with a doozy of a storm here so I’m going to go make sure my windows are closed. Have a beautiful day everyone and HAPPY CANADA DAY!!!!

This was nice reading on a lazy afternoon. Hi Ang. I hope you are all well – looks like it. 🙂

I just wanted to comment that your photo of the storm building in the distance makes me miss Texas. Me and my kids would park and just sit watching the storm develop and chat. Those were good memories. I’m glad you could make good memories with your kids. It’s a good time in your lives.

Great photos of your family. You are truly blessed with a beautiful family in every way. Enjoy the rest of your summer.

Thanks Val 🙂 My kids and I just can’t get enough of storms and I wish we had more this summer to enjoy. We got barely any rain this summer and things are extremely dry! Tons of big fires throughout the prairies this year that have had some devastating results.

I hope you have enjoyed your summer, and I’m sorry you miss Texas! It must be so hard to move so far away like you did.
