I will shamefully admit that I have never read anything from Agatha Christie. I happened to come across this book (I chose to listen to it on CD) while looking for a few extra books to help me reach my goal for my Goodreads Challenge.
Like a martini – crisp, dry, sophisticated, habit-forming, ever-so-slightly dated – will satisfy all devotees of Christie’s neat plotting.

The synopsis:
When a stranger runs his car into a ditch in dense fog near the South Wales coast, and makes his way to an isolated house, he discovers a woman standing over the dead body of her wheel-chair bound husband, a gun in her hand. She admits to murder, and the unexpected guest offers to help her concoct a cover story.
But is it possible that Laura Warwick did not commit the murder after all? And if so, who is she shielding? The house seems full of suspects…
I really enjoyed this short story. It was read by Hugh Fraser and was easy to listen to. The story kept me interested with little twists and turns and I thought I knew who did it, until I realized I was very wrong. I guess I’ll have to make the time to enjoy some more of Agatha Christie!
What was your favorite Agatha Christie book if you’ve read any? Looking for suggestions for my next attempt at solving a mystery!

My favourite, of the not many I’ve read, is a bit of a cliche: “And Then There Were None”. But hey, it isn’t the best selling mystery of all time for nothing! 😁

I never enjoyed tea-cozy mysteries but I know she is well-known for a reason. My mum loves to read her and I have been stuck watching the movie adaptations for years. I’ve probably seen them all. You are tempting me to read one of her books. 😉
Nice review, Ang. 🙂

I love a good mystery, generally with more action than this. It was good though!
