September 2021 (Part One)

The 2021-2022 school year has began. Where did the summer go? It’s all such a blur…I guess technically its still summer but it feels like its over.

We spent some nice time out at the lake, at the family cabin, at a few different parks and a couple of nice country drives. Not as much as we have in the past but the times we had were enjoyable.

School started on September 2nd and we decided to take off out of the province the morning of the 4th. It was the long weekend and we were all itching for some fun. We packed a few clothes and a lot of snacks and headed West. The last time we visited family was last March as everything was shut down. The day before we left Saskatchewan this year, Alberta announced that masks were mandated again. Again we debated cancelling.

Before we left I wasted the morning trying to fight through an anxiety attack and get the kids ready to go while taking multiple trips to my room to lay in bed and cry. I’m not sure entirely sure I can pinpoint why exactly. The main reason was that dang anxiety! I had been doing so well!

We hit the road. Bound for Blackfalds Alberta where my oldest friend lives. She works in healthcare and is a waitress part time so it was a miracle we were able to pull off a couple of days together.

We arrived Saturday just in time for supper 😀 After everyone went to bed Kelly and I talked about how we wanted to tackle to millions of things in only a day. We decided on an adventure park in Drumheller. Sunday morning we all slept a little longer than we should have and ate a little bit more for breakfast than expected but we finally headed out at noon. The drive was beautiful and it was going to be a pretty warm day out.

Our first stop was Barney’s Adventure Park. It was a short jaunt from the parking lot to the park but they made it more fun with a path just off the road for the kids to take. The road was a safer choice for me since the path involved hills, rocks and rougher terrain.

The kids and Auntie took the more rugged path
My husband and I took the road 🙂

We spent the whole afternoon there and because there was so much to do we had to back in the evening to finish it all! Our first stop was the zipline.

The whole family loves some good goat time so we made sure to get lots of food to feed them. We managed to get lots of pets and baby talk in as well 😀

We got to have freezies, watch a pig race, play in the sand, get wet under the water tower, have go cart races, share some love with the horses and so much more!

We wanted to get to the World’s Largest Dinosaur before they closed at 5 pm. We had a 45 minute wait because there were so many people. When there was only one family left in the line ahead of us, I told the kids to watch for outside and I went out to see if I could get a picture from the ground. Hopefully one day I will get to head up and see what it’s like way up there!

Stayed tuned for more of our family adventure!

I hope everyone is having a great week so far and I really hope you all got out to vote!!!
