Perpendicular Galaxy

Loves to climb trees
Hates the Christmas sweater

At the end of November we decided I decided that it was time to get a new family member 😀 Our last two pets were big gorgeous border collie/german shepherd cross protectors. We got them as puppies as soon as they were old enough to leave their mama and we had them for their whole lives. The first, Nike (as in the shoe because he loved to run) had epilepsy and he got so bad that they couldn’t give him any more meds so when the seizures picked up again we had a big decision to make. I was pregnant with our second at the time. If you’ve never had a pet with epilepsy all I’ll say here is that when the seizures happen there is a bit of *ahem clean up to do afterward. So for his sake (and mine) we let him go to heaven and be one of our beloved guardians. The brother, Turbo (named after his impeccable speed) was with us for about 15 years I think. In the end he was suffering with a failing kidney and a possible cancerous growth on his behind. It was time for him to join his beloved brother. We were all heart broken but I knew I wasn’t ready to let another pet come into our house. We are always so busy and not home a lot and it just wouldn’t be fair.

Enjoys playing with tissue paper

When I felt it was time I started suggesting many different options to my husband. The suggestions ranged from rats to a snake, a bearded dragon to a simple beta fish, bunnies, cats, and I even threw in a tarantula but in all honesty if he said yes to the giant spider I’d have to move out into the shed because there is just no way!! Everything was a pretty clear no. So when my cousin called and offered us a kitten my first response was “Of course! But let me tell Mac first 😉 ” And so a week later I let her know that we were ready for the new kitty as soon as we could figure out a time to get together. She lives almost 5 hours away so it wasn’t going to happen over night. Her kids had already named her Perpendicular. Our kids had a hard time with that name and so they decided on Galaxy 😀

We’ve had this beauty for a month now and the kids have kept her entertained and she’s kept them on their toes. She’s helped my daughter by always being there for cuddles and always willing to be wrapped up like a baby and carried around for hours every day (poor kitty lol).

Curtain climbing is also a fun hobby

She’s kept me busy too though with her constant climbing up the tree, the curtains, my back… I’ve got up through the night to see what was wrong because she was crying constantly, maybe she was just complaining but regardless she was loud and I was trying to sleep 😀 I’m glad the kids are getting along with her, aside from the many scratches through play and warnings, and we are so very grateful she is here. She warmed up to all of us immediately and us to her and she is very much loved. And most importantly I don’t have to worry about being away for long periods of time because it at least gives her a chance to sleep without being disturbed lol.

Hope everyone had a great Christmas filled with tons of new memories and loud laughter. I used to enjoy eggnog during the holidays as well but I feel like it’s not as thick and creamy this year as it was previously. Not as enjoyable that’s for sure. Are you an eggnog lover or hater?

Ahhhh pets. When I grew up on the farm, you never used to hear about pets developing such serious afflictions, but now the medical costs to for pets are through the roof. Best of luck with perpendicular. As to the eggnog, this Lucerne c#&% is so watered down, it is no longer worth getting and that is not even the lite stuff. Dairyland seems to be still good. We tend to cut it with skim milk and ice on most occasions or spike it with Grand Marnier. We may have to go back to making it in the future. Hope you have a great time on New Years Eve, Angie and all the best in 2020. Allan

My mom used to make her own eggnog. It was delicious but I just couldn’t get it to taste as good. You are 100% correct with the Lucerne! We can get Dairlyland at our local co-op thank goodness! Happy New Years!

Our animal angels should be granted a pain free departure, if they must be taken from their loved ones. It’s heart breaking. I’m not even a cat person (although I’ve deeply loved a few), but that kitty is beautiful & appears to have a huge personality. : )

I agree. We have a responsibility to help them and if they must go then make it as pain-free as we can. And yes, she certainly has a huge personality! Its like having another child in the house 🙂 Thank you so much for commenting!

My pleasure. I enjoyed meeting (sort of) your little darling. Murph, my lizard, has been the same way for about a month! So that he may get exercise in the room I’m in, I place cardboard ‘walls’ to block those doorways with no doors. He learned if he smacks into them, they’ll fall on him & he can walk from the underside to go where he wishes! If I get a kiddy gate he’ll just climb it. My once docile lizard is a bouncing baby boy.
