Same Time, Same Place

Why is it that nearly every night I’m woken anywhere between 3 and 3:30 am having to blindly make my way to the bathroom walking into doors and tripping on my own feet? It’s also the time that my mind is the loudest. The thoughts (mostly negative but sometimes just sad) just keep coming and it’s always so hard to get back to sleep!

Last night, for instance, my very first thought as I crawled out of bed was along the lines of “And besides, if he wasn’t such a toxic person then maybe I would have been willing to let him see his grand kids. He abandoned me twice in the same life.” I get into the hall…”I wonder if anyone has ever been standing at that window waiting for the perfect opportunity to kill me and realized that I punish myself enough trying to get through a dark house that it would be better to leave me alone?” “What should I make for supper tomorrow?” “Why did I drink that water before bed?” “I was only standing up for myself and sticking to my boundaries, they didn’t have to get so mad” and “We should plant pumpkins in the garden, why haven’t we planted pumpkins before?”

I’ve heard that the middle of the night brain rambles tend to be mostly negative for a lot of people? Is there something to that? Does the dark tend to make our thoughts dark as well? What are your thought?

Angie, my mind is the loudest during the evening hours before bed.
Sometimes though I do wake up in the night with the “should’ve, could’ve, would’ve” thoughts. Basically called “regrets”. There are times when I think about some who have hurt me.
So Angie, you are not alone! There are probably numerous people who are experiencing the exact same things in their lives.

I’m glad I’m not alone in the “shoulda, coulda, woulda” but I sure wish I could just turn off the brain, hit a mute button, and sleep :\
I think my mind would be loudest in the evening and possibly keep me from falling to sleep if I didn’t have such a busy house. Before I had kids it would take me 3-4 hours(sometimes longer) just to fall asleep…Not sure which was worse to be honest lol

Well, if it is snowing, I know why I wake up at 3 AM. My neighbour goes to work early and is up at 3 shoveling her walks. I am like you, if something is running through my mind during the day and I have not solved the problem before I go to bed, my brain starts spinning it when I awake for that night time trip. I try to tell myself to not make the mistake of turning my brain on, but it seldom works. Hope you get a good sleep tonight. Allan

What a terrible time to shovel haha. Reminds me of a time when I had a neighbor above me that would vacume at 6 am and have her grandkids over by 7 when I worked until 2.
I guess there are fines now if you don’t shovel so i suppose she needs to do it when there’s time. Still…A terrible time to shovel 😀

When I do manage to get some sleep and I wake up to go to the bathroom, I try not to think, I keep my eyes closed and breathe deeply, telling myself “you’re still tired, go back to that nice warm bed” (or sofa, depending on where I’ve fallen asleep). It doesn’t work all the time but I’m so happy(the next morning) when it does – cos I need all the sleep I can get.

I find I can manage better if there is a night light on in the bathroom so I’m not running into the doors or walls lol. Yes, we all need as much sleep as we can get! It’s the magic cure to many things 🙂 Sometimes it’s much too hard to come by though.

I’ll usually wake around that time too, mostly because that’s when I have to go to the bathroom. I also have a night light so I don’t run into anything. 😀

Between 3 and 4 at night is what they call the witching hour. 😉 Is there truth to that? I’m not sure. But, supposedly at that time it’s when negative energy is at it’s height, and supernatural is strengthened. This started around the 1800’s because prayers were not being lifted at this hour, or something or other like that. Thus, negative energy is higher within those hours? Do you ever wake at exactly 3:33? 😀

I believe there had to be something to that for sure. Yes, I have woke at that time, though not too often, mostly in the near minutes around it.
Nightlights are very important and I also find that my glasses are equally important but I keep them in the bathroom 😀
