You know that moment you find a recipe you absolutely love and everyone approves and feel like a total rockstar because people are telling you how great it tasted and how it just melted in their mouth and then one day you just can’t find the recipe anymore? It’s just…gone. No? Well it happens to me all the time. Maybe not the rockstar part but I definitely lose things all the time. I’ve had quite a few of my favorite recipes go missing never to be seen again and my banana bread recipe was one of them. Luckily for me, banana bread is a pretty easy thing to make and also extremely easy to find online for any recipes. I did have to try a few different ones to find one that tasted how I liked and had a good texture but I think I’m happy with this one 😀 I found it in an old cookbook from before there was pinterest (haha).
I just love how simple and quick it is to make this! If you haven’t noticed yet, I’m all about simple, fast and mostly kid-friendly baking. I’m looking forward to teaching my oldest son some culinary basics this summer since he’s 9. He’s shown an interest in cooking for the last year and it seems to difficult at the best of times to have him help out with so many limits on time that most families have these days. It’s important to me to be able to show my kids how to cook (something I don’t feel I was given a chance with and so I am learning all these things a lot later in life), how to garden so they can provide food (something a lot of people aren’t taught anymore), and how to use common sense because that’s a lost art.
My kids are my inspiration for experimenting so much the last few years with different meals and baking. I would really love to be the one my kids call if they have any cooking questions. It’s something I wish I would’ve taken advantage of before when I was younger.

Always good to get the kids involved in the kitchen. Mom always enlisted my help in baking, pickling, etc. At 65, this son is the baker in our family and has been for almost 40 years. Just baked (2) sourdough (Levain) baguettes for breakfast, this AM. The remaining 7 kilos of Levain brown bread will follow in about 3 hours, once the loaves rise. Happy baking, happy weekend and Happy Canada Day, Angie. Allan
