I’ve been trying to do more reading this year and take more time for putting my feet up and enjoying life. I’ve been doing pretty good I think 🙂
There’s been a couple of unforgettable books that I’ve encountered this year so far. One was My Secret Sister by Helen Edwards and Jenny Lee Smith. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/17396987-my-secret-sister This story was full of twists and turns that I just didn’t see coming! This is a must read. True story of sisters separated and finally reunited. I cried, I laughed, I vowed to stop reading because it just hit too close to home, I vowed again to not give up on these girls, I cried some more. It was a really hard book to get through because of it’s content and it left me in quite a state for a few days after I was done…But I would definitely read it again and Im most certainly recommending it!
The second book is The Lake House by Kate Morton.
I was captivated by Loeanneth from the beginning. My mind was racing with all the possibilities of its past and future. The unexpected revelations throughout the book had me guessing right to the end. As the secrets were being revealed I realized that this story was much more than I had originally anticipated! The secrets kept coming and the characters became so much more than just characters in a novel. They truly become your friends as you would expect from any great author. At some point in the story though, it becomes much more personal than that. They embrace you as part of their family. Loeanneth accepts you as a part of her as well. She transforms from an old house to a loving, protecting home. I picture Loeanneth as a “forgotten Grandmother” that was once young, vibrant and full of life with secrets whom is finally able to tell her story.
The book has three main characters, Eleanor, Alice and Sadie, but I consider the house one as well. It was Alice that I related to the most. All three women really made you think about your own morals and what the outcome would be if you were in there position.
I’d be interested to hear what you thought of these of books if you’ve read them or if you plan to. Do you have a book that you’ve read lately that you would recommend, one that has made an impact in your life? One that you felt connected to? If so, please let me know so I can also read them! I would love to hear from you 🙂
Have a beautiful weekend!
