Coffee Break Poetry

My Life Is My Art

Do you remember the time, not long ago,

We couldn’t wait to talk to each other again.

Texting all day until early next morning,

Smiling at the sound of that text notification,

Laughing at inside jokes and dumbass remarks.

I miss that. I miss you.

You’ll never know just how much.

Just how hard it is to keep going,

Knowing those times are forgotten for you.

Are they? Are those memories gone?

Or do you remember as often as I do?

I’ll be okay.

I’ve met good, kind people who encourage me.

Keep going, keep healing, keep sharing.

My life has become my art.

Art that you don’t get to see anymore.

I found this while going through some papers in my kitchen cupboard (of all places!). It was jotted down on sticky paper and forgotten about. Most of the poetry I find is wrote on sticky notes honestly LOL. I should start calling this Sticky Note Poetry. I don’t remember writing it but I know it was at least 2 years ago and the hurt was real and raw and I could never imagine the anger and betrayal that this would bring in the end. There are still so many new things that I am learning about myself and feelings that are emerging from childhood as I explore my memories and those boxes in my head on this journey of healing and moving forward.

Have a great weekend!

Hi! First off, thanks for popping in! I started this blog for a number of reasons and if you look through the posts you will see all sorts of randomness. I'm a mom of 3 living in a small village in Saskatchewan. We are a household that is on the go a lot with the nearest city an hour away. We love reading, going for walks, playing at as many parks as we can find and just hanging out.
I struggle with anxiety, depression, & ptsd but strive to find the positive in the every day ordinary moments and thank the good Lord for all the blessings I have :)
My Mental Health journey has recently reminded me of my love for all kinds of art, writing poetry being the first to reintroduce myself to. It's hard to open up and let those feelings flow after being buried so deep for so long.
I have a little bit of everything here so I won't take it personally if you don't like or connect to everything I write, but I do really appreciate you being here and sharing in this journey of me re-discovering my true self through words and thoughts that don't always make sense to anyone but myself :D

I love the idea of “sticky note poetry!” 🥰🤣 Mine would be called “roadside scrap paper poetry.” Beautiful writing! And don’t you love finding writing for previous emotional times in life? It always makes me feel validated. Like my writing is my witness to life.

Ahhh! I also have roadside scrap paper poetry 😀 I absolutely love finding old writing from days gone by. I recently found some from almost 25 years ago when I was about 16 that I wrote just after a break up. Some of the best stuff I’ve done.
